I came across two great tips for those interested in learning Italian:
- Jessica at ich estudio langues wrote a post on limiting your language resources to avoid becoming overwhelmed, and mentioned a free podcast by Radio Lingua that she uses for Italian pronunciation and listening comprehension. I just subscribed and will try it out because it seems like a great way to keep spoken Italian fresh in your mind and only takes a few minutes a day. You can subscribe via iTunes or find out more here.
- Fluent Every Year has a great post on using music to augment your Italian learning, and this is a method I have been using for a long time. If you’re a big music fan like I am, this can really make your language learning more enjoyable. The basic process is to find music you like in the language you’re learning, find the lyrics and translate the parts you don’t understand, and run through the song a few times while following the lyrics closely and focusing on the meaning of what’s being said. Give it some time to sink in and pretty soon you’ll understand the meaning of the song every time you hear it. My two favorite Italian artists are Negramaro and Adriano Celentano. Check them out if you haven’t heard them before!
